I have always been partial to the -2, but the markings of the -1 units are more available.

No easy task to redo this vertical to be a -1, Bob has it set up for a -2.  Not a lot of work, just a bummer to have to hack anything up, and the vertical has to be doctored up via dremel.

I love to glass wings.  :)

The other scale point that is driving me batty, is the cowl shape, it should taper as you go forward from the fuse, as well, it is not suppose to be round on the bottom, but I can live with this also, as they are really tough to pick up during static inspections, unless I run into another me.  :(

Where the Brison 5.8 will call home.

bearcatAE2.jpg (134053 bytes)

Engine cowl flaps and the exhaust ramp have been cut out of the forward fuse. This will allow the hot air to exit through scale locations.

With all of the cutting of the fuse, a generous amount of glassing and carbon re enforcing is added.

I make a piss poor plumber, but this will be used as a model for an exhaust make out of aluminum.

Ok back to work time for the -1.  sand sand sand, then more sanding.

aebearcatMvc-805f.jpg (126536 bytes)

Built up rudder and elevator will help to keep the tail from getting too heavy.  Though I am not too worried about weight. This plane has more scale landing and take offs with the added weight.

...and the Brison 5.8 has no problems pulling this thing into a steady 75 degree climb after a short acceleration off the runway.

Easy access hatch for refueling, and engine cut off.  More sanding to go, then map out the panel lines.

9" from center line of the exit pipe to centerline of the opposite exit pipes.

This prototype weighs in at just under 3 lbs.  I should not have any nose weight issues.

Exit pipes are 6" long.

The collector is a standard Brison piece used for the 5.8, sawed,  fille, and 3/4" pipes added.  The opposing 3/4 pipe was added to test rpms exiting gases direct, and exiting through entire system, as well as a test or two doing both.  Awaiting engines to return from Brison for a heath check.
